Sega and Bandai Namco working on new PS-exclusive titles

According to ResetEra whistleblower @Head on the Block, Sony is currently changing its previous game strategy and will reduce its focus on GaaS (service games) to a certain extent and instead use third parties. Manufacturers come to supplement the camp IP.

It is said that Sega and Bandai Namco are currently developing exclusive new games for it, especially the former is developing an IP that “will wipe the floor”. But with caution, “it will take at least 4 years to see some changes.”

Sony reportedly delayed The Last of Us multiplayer spin-off earlier this year, later “freezing” the development and ultimately axing the game. Since then, many have begun to question the sustainability of Sony’s strategy, especially since a well-known studio like Naughty Dog can’t pull it off.

Critics argue that the move from traditional single-player games to GaaS is a mistake. For example, it was previously reported that @David Jaffe, the father of “God of War”, claimed that Sony’s first-party studios were dissatisfied with such “service-oriented game strategies”, which led to frequent personnel changes.

David Jaffe claims that Jim Ryan’s development direction of “service-based games” has made many PlayStation first-party studios dissatisfied, and the changes in the “The Last of Us” multiplayer game project have also made these studios panic.
