Recently, BYD announced the sales data of Seagull in 2023. A total of 50,525 units were sold in December, and the cumulative sales volume in the nine months since its launch reached 280,217 units. Judging from the line chart released by the manufacturer, Seagull’s sales have maintained growth for eight consecutive months. In addition, BYD sold a total of 3,024,417 vehicles in 2023, and passenger car sales reached 3,012,906 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 61.8%.
Looking back at the appearance, unlike the round and cute shapes of most small cars on the market, the front face of the Seagull looks sharp and angular, with simple lines outlining a dynamic outline. The inverted trapezoidal headlight design is supplemented by the trapezoidal lower surround shape, plus the “fangs” on both sides of the front of the car, making this car look a bit more aggressive.
Viewed from the side, the Seagull adopts a suspended roof design, and the upwardly raised waistline is cleverly integrated with the door panel lines to create the flying posture of the Seagull. In terms of body size, the length, width and height of the new car are 3780/1715/1540mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2500mm. Looking at the rear of the car, the through-type taillights are highly recognizable, and the shapes on both sides of the rear apron are sharper. In addition, there are large spoilers and diffusers to enhance the sporty feel.
Looking at the interior, the Seagull continues the overall design style of BYD Dolphin, equipped with a 5-inch full LCD instrument panel and a 10.1-inch central control screen. The car is equipped with the DiLink intelligent network connection system, which supports video playback, voice interaction and other functions. The overall lines of the interior look smoother and more dynamic, and a dual-color design is used to further reflect the youthful and sporty style. In addition, the car also supports mobile App interconnection, Bluetooth keys, and NFC car key unlocking.
In terms of power, all BYD Seagull series are equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous drive motor with a maximum power of 75 horsepower and a maximum torque of 135N·m. The car has two battery capacities to choose from. The CLTC model equipped with a 30.08kWh battery has a pure electric range of 305km. The top model has a battery capacity of 38.88kWh and a CLTC cruising range of 405km.
