Samsung’s four-foldable display device patent exposure: it can be worn on the wrist, similar to Nubia α

With the development of flexible screen technology, there have been many folding screen phones on the market. In addition, cell phone manufacturers also have some “muscle” products that have not been officially launched, such as the Xiaomi MIX Alpha, which uses a wrap-around screen, and the OPPO X 2021, a scrolling screen phone without folds.

The World Intellectual Property Office has published a patent for a new dual-screen phone from Samsung, SamMobile reported on Aug. 29. In the patent, Samsung introduced a dual-screen phone that also has a screen on the back of the body, similar to ZTE’s previously announced Nubia X and Nubia Z20.

Today, 91mobiles revealed another Samsung patent for a folding screen. According to the report, the patent shows a display device that can be folded four times. As can be seen from the patent image, the device can be folded on both sides of the screen to reduce the body occupancy area by half. At the same time, the device a hinge can be folded into a right angle, stand on the desktop, and display caller information and time, etc.. In addition, the device can be folded and worn on the wrist, similar to the Nubia α wristband smartphone.

The patent information shows that the device consists of a controller, a folding sensor unit and a foldable display. The patent indicates that the device can ensure that the information is displayed properly even after being folded through the sensor.

The Nubia α “wrist machine” national version was released in Beijing in April 2019, with the black eSIM version listed at RMB 3,499 . The machine uses a 4.01-inch flexible display, which not only has the call function of a smartphone but also can be worn on the wrist to transform into a smartwatch.
