Foreign technology media Tom’s Guide recently reported that Samsung may launch a Fan Edition (FE) version for the Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip series of foldable phones.
The media interviewed Drew Blackard, vice president of mobile product marketing at Samsung, and said that the starting price of Galaxy Z Fold5 is US$1,799 and the starting price of Galaxy Z Flip5 is US$999. The two foldable phones have no advantage in terms of price compared with other rival products. I asked whether Samsung will launch a similar version of FE in the future.
It is learned from the report that Blackard did not respond positively, saying that Samsung’s current priority is to improve the product, focusing on optimizing the pain points of foldable phone users.
Blackard said that in the Fold series, the focus of development is to make the product thinner and lighter; in the Flip series, the “Flex Window” external screen experience is perfected.
Blackard said that the top priority for Samsung is how to make foldable phone products well, continue to improve, and become the mainstream of consumption. After perfecting various functions, Samsung will consider reducing costs and expanding its investment portfolio.
