Samsung will be the first to produce OLED screens for Apple’s iPhone 15 series

According to Korean media Thelec reported that Samsung Display will start production of Apple iPhone 15 OLED screen in May. Due to production problems with BOE’s OLED screen, some models of OLED screen production time has been brought forward.

According to reports, the high-end models of the iPhone 15 series will start production in June, using the technically difficult LTPO TFT technology. BOE’s OLED screen had a light leakage phenomenon when it realized the punch-hole display of the front camera, which made it impossible to deliver the first batch of orders for the iPhone 15 OLED screen in time. Samsung Display will start producing regular OLED screens for the iPhone 15 series in mid-May, and will focus on the production of OLED screens for the iPhone 15 Pro series starting in June. LG Display will also focus on producing LTPO OLED screens this year.

The report also said that BOE has partially improved the problem recently, and it is possible to deliver OLED screens for new iPhone 15 products within this year. The industry expects BOE to be the main supplier next year when Apple first uses OLED screens on its low-priced iPhone SE 4 model. The iPhone SE series is Apple’s lower-priced lineup aimed at emerging markets and first-time iPhone consumers. The OLED screen iPhone SE4 will also use the OLED screen of the past 2021 or 2022 model, because the old parts are used, so the price of the OLED screen is also lower.

Samsung Display is Apple’s largest OLED screen supplier and delivered 110 million OLED screens to Apple last year.
