Samsung Unveils World’s First HDR10+ Game at Gamescom Cologne

Samsung officially launched the world’s first HDR10 + game “The First Descendent” developed in cooperation with NEXON. The game will be unveiled at the Cologne International Games Show in 2023. It is the first game to adopt the HDR10+ GAMING standard.

The HDR10+ GAMING standard can provide players with deeper contrast, richer colors and more balanced brightness, and also allows players to see accurate rendering of details in dark shadows and highlight areas. Other benefits of the HDR10+ GAMING standard include near-instant response, low latency, support for variable refresh rates, and more.

Samsung co-founded HDR10+ Technologies LLC with other companies in 2018 and opened it up for free. HDR10+ has become a free alternative to Dolby Vision. As a result of this move, the HDR10+ ecosystem has grown to 155 partners and over 7,000 certified devices.

“By adopting the HDR10+ GAMING standard, we are bringing games to life in a way that was not possible before. This partnership with Samsung also raises the bar for HDR gaming,” said Hyun Kim, vice president and executive vice president of NEXON’s business development department. We’re excited to lead this new standard in picture quality.”

The game “The First Descendants” will start the public beta on September 19, but unfortunately, Chinese players cannot participate in the public beta for the time being.
