According to Yonhap News Agency, Samsung SDI stated that the company plans to start mass production of all-solid-state batteries (ASB) in 2027 to meet the needs of the upcoming electric vehicle (EV) era.
Samsung SDI has outlined its preparations in the field of ASB ahead of the InterBattery 2024 show on Wednesday, describing it as a solution for flammable lithium-ion batteries.
“We are fully preparing for mass production of next-generation products in various forms, such as all-solid-state batteries, as we lead the global battery market with our unparalleled ‘Super Gap’ technology,” said Yoonho Choi, CEO of Samsung SDI.
It is found that Samsung had established an all-solid-state battery test production line with the industry’s highest energy density of 900Whr/L at its Suwon R&D center in southern Seoul last year and is currently producing prototype samples.
