Samsung officially released the Galaxy Z Flip 5 Retro phone. The new phone will be sold in limited quantities in South Korea, the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain and Australia on November 1.
The Galaxy Z Flip 5 Retro pays homage to 2003’s legendary SGH-E700 flip phone, a legendary product and the first phone from Samsung to feature a built-in antenna. Because of its design, a Norwegian newspaper called it “the Mercedes-Benz of phones.” The SGH-E700 played a key role in boosting Samsung’s position in the phone industry during an era when Nokia dominated the phone market.
The Galaxy Z Flip 5 Retro has some SGH-E700 elements, such as indigo and silver colors, and is designed with some nostalgic pixel graphics, UI and cityscape animations on its Flex Window external screen.
Samsung ships the phone in a neat box with the Z Flip5 and E700 logos, as well as a Flipsuit case with stickers featuring logos from different eras in Samsung’s history, and an engraved unique serial number Samsung E700 collectible card.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 Retro can only be purchased through Samsung’s official website, and the official has not yet provided information on pricing.
It is found that the current Galaxy Z Flip 5 is available in eight colors: Ice Mint, Cloud Shadow Gray, Ice Rose Purple, Galaxy White, Polar Grey, Wave Blue, Mountain Green, and Solar Yellow. Its 8GB+256GB version costs 7,499 CNY. The 8GB+512GB version costs 8,499 CNY.
The phone is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy processor, the outer screen size is upgraded to 3.4 inches, the inner screen size is 6.7 inches, and the battery capacity is 3700mAh (typical value).
