According to Korean media thelec, industry insiders revealed that Samsung Electronics plans to produce 400,000 units of the first-generation Galaxy Ring.
According to reports, the Galaxy Ring is a new product line launched this year, and Samsung Electronics is expected to adjust the production of the Galaxy Ring based on market response. Since the product is smaller in size and there is no shortage of special parts recently, production is not expected to be interrupted even if demand exceeds expectations. Mass production of Galaxy Ring parts will begin in May, and new products are expected to be unveiled in July alongside Samsung’s new sixth-generation foldable phone, which is expected to be available as early as August.
It is noticed that Samsung MX (mobile experience) head Lu Taiwen previously revealed some information about its first smart ring, the Galaxy Ring, during the MWC 2024 exhibition.
Lu Taiwen revealed that the Galaxy Ring can be used for 5-9 days on a single charge and can be charged using a pogo pin probe connector and a dedicated adapter. In terms of function, this ring has a variety of built-in sensors that can track the user’s blood oxygen saturation and sleep status. It is reported that the Galaxy Ring can also track heart rate, steps and exercise status.
Hon Pak, corporate vice president and head of the digital health team at Samsung, said that he hopes to make the Galaxy Ring a smart ring so attractive that iPhone users will consider switching to a Galaxy phone. He said in an interview: “We hope that our rings can reach such a level that users are willing to replace their phones.”
