Fold devices from Samsung are some of its most expensive smartphones, but the company plans to make a turn with the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4. The predecessors of these devices both cost 7,599 yuan and 14,999 yuan respectively, this price kept them at the “top of the shelves” for most buyers so to speak. With more competition coming into the foldable smartphone race, there is a need for Samsung to retain its already existing customers instead of losing them to rivals. To do this, Samsung plans to use a very nifty strategy to help make these devices more affordable.

Samsung’s supposed master plan in reducing the price of the Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4 is to change its battery supplier. Currently, the Samsung SDI subsidiary supplies the batteries used on the previous foldable devices from Samsung. This change in battery supplies will bring Samsung to the doors of ATL (Amperex Technology Limited) batteries to do business. Making this change will help bring down the price of Samsung foldable devices, hence making them more accessible to people with a slimmer budget.

This expected change will see Samsung switch from more expensive suppliers to cheaper ones. Will this mean a drop in the quality of these devices? Because ATL is a major supplier of Apple iPhone batteries, this move doesn’t seem like a drop in quality. This also isn’t the first time Samsung will be doing business with ATL, they used its batteries on the Galaxy Note 7.

Let us now watch to see how this move from Samsung will help make the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Z Fold 4 more affordable. Will this price reduction save Samsung’s face from the onslaught coming from rival smartphone manufacturers moving into the foldable space.
