Samsung Electronics announced that the 3D Map View function, which was first unveiled at the 2024 Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2024), was officially launched and is now available in all regions that support SmartThings.
According to reports, Map View can convert the actual floor plan of the home into a virtual image in the SmartThings application. Users can check the location of devices in the home anytime and anywhere, making it easy to adjust lighting, temperature, air quality, power consumption and other settings at any time.
Samsung said Map View aims to solve the challenges faced by home users around the world due to the growing number of connected devices. With Map View, you no longer need to search for devices one by one before using them, reducing the burden of housework management. Even if more connected devices are added, the home situation can be updated and grasped in real time.
It is noticed that the previous version of Map View was a 2D model, and a floor plan of the home must be provided before it can be used. However, the latest version of 3D Map View takes advantage of the Spatial AI technology built into Samsung devices like the Bespoke Jet Bot robot vacuum to measure and map the floor plan of your home with LiDAR sensors.
3D Map View will also feature enhanced filtering capabilities to more effectively monitor specific devices. Samsung aims to use AI capabilities to provide more personalized and user-friendly smart services by the end of the year.
Users can view Map View in the SmartThings app through mobile phones and smart displays powered by Android or iOS.
Map View was first launched in South Korea and the United States last year. The feature is now available in all regions where the SmartThings app is supported.
