Samsung issues warning: these accessories may damage your Galaxy S23

Samsung recently issued a warning that its Galaxy S23 series phones could be damaged by the use of unofficial or non-Samsung-certified accessories, which are mainly used to protect the rear camera lens.

Samsung illustrated the possible damage caused by these unofficial accessories on a support page. One of the illustrations shows that using a third-party or non-Samsung-certified camera lens protector may scratch the camera ring when removed. The company warns users to be careful when removing such accessories.

Samsung also mentioned that users of Galaxy S23 series phones may see scratches on the lens protector, forget that they used such a protector, and mistakenly think that their camera lens is scratched. As a result, they went to an authorized service center and wasted time and money, when in fact they only needed to remove the lens protection sticker.

In addition, Samsung also pointed out that the lens protector and some cases that cover the camera lens add an extra layer of glass, which can reduce the picture quality of photos and videos. If liquid and foreign objects enter between the lens protector and the lens, it will also have a negative impact on the image quality.

Samsung also emphasized that all three models of the Galaxy S23 series phones have a microphone built into the bottom of the camera module and that third-party or non-Samsung certified cases may obscure this microphone, causing calls and video/audio recordings to sound dull.
