According to the Nikkei News, Nihon Keizai Shimbun and Fomalhaut Techno Solutions, a professional dismantling organization in Tokyo, conducted a dismantling report on Samsung’s latest folding device Galaxy Z Fold 4, and the cost of its components is estimated at $670, less than 40% of the sales price, and the hardware cost of the iPhone 14 Pro Max is 46% of the sales price.
The report shows that the Galaxy Z Fold 4 uses a large number of Samsung-made components and other local Korean hardware, which makes its supply chain more stable and cost-effective.

In terms of cost, the proportion of Fold 4’s local parts is about 50%, which is twice that of the iPhone, and the proportion of local parts is relatively high. As manufacturers such as Apple work to diversify supply chains and reduce geopolitical risks, Samsung is benefiting from strong domestic procurement, which ensures a steady supply of its parts and keeps costs down.
