Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 will welcome a larger cover display Screen crease further improved

If today’s rumors are confirmed, Samsung’s next-generation Galaxy Z Flip 5 could correct two major problems that still exist with its predecessor, the Z Flip4. Ross Young, CEO from Display Supply Chain Consultants, said that the next-generation Samsung folding screen flip model Flip 5 will come with a much larger cover display of about 3.3 inches to 3.4 inches, which is much larger than the 1.9-inch screen we currently get on the Flip4.

It’s worth noting that OPPO’s upcoming Find N2 Flip flip model, a direct competitor to Samsung’s Flip series, was also announced earlier today with a large external screen design. But the Flip 5 could catch up or even exceed its rumored 3.26-inch size.

According to Young, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will also get an upgrade to its inner screen, mainly to address the crease issue that is still a headache. The Flip 5 is said to feature a new hinge design, which will “reduce the visibility of the seams”. It’s unclear if it will also reduce the feel of creases, but since the hinge has been upgraded, it’s likely to improve the crease situation.

Samsung’s Chinese rivals have been rolling out devices with less visible creases on the folding screen, so it’s good to see the Korean company making some progress here, and as they say, better late than never.
