Samsung will soon launch a new folding phone Galaxy Z Flip 5, its biggest highlight is to have a larger and more practical external screen.
The Galaxy Z Flip 5 will have a 3.4-inch external screen, which is much larger than the external screen of the existing Galaxy Z Flip series phones. Users can use the external screen in a folded state to perform many operations, such as typing, voice input, browsing the web, checking the calendar, etc.
Most of Samsung’s apps have been optimized for the outside screen, and not only that, but according to Sammobile, Google apps have also been optimized specifically for the Galaxy Z Flip 5’s outside screen. For example, Google Maps can display navigation information on the outside screen, allowing users to view directions without having to expand the phone. Other Google apps such as Messages and YouTube also support external screen operation. Users can send text messages, watch videos, etc. in the folded state.
The partnership between Samsung and Google is not a surprise. Since Samsung launched its first folding phone, the two companies have been working closely together to optimize Android systems and apps for Samsung’s folding phones. Google Meet, for example, supports the Galaxy Z Flip’s Flex mode.
While the Galaxy Z Flip 5’s external screen doesn’t offer the full Android experience that the Galaxy Z Fold 5’s external screen does, it still brings more convenience and possibilities to users.
It is said that Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 will be available on July 27.
