Samsung and Qualcomm is expected to have reached an agreement, the upcoming Galaxy S23 series will use an exclusive custom chip, its official name is “Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy”. But that name is still too long, and Samsung has prepared a more concise way to remind people that the new flagship uses a custom chip. The new name is “Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy”.
The promotional images will use a modified Snapdragon logo. The previous documents show that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chip will have a CPU frequency of up to 3.36GHz, while Qualcomm’s main version of the chip usually runs its main X3 core at 3.2GHz.
The chip will be exclusive to Samsung phones, and this “Snapdragon for Galaxy” chip format is also expected to carry over to next year’s Galaxy S24 series. Over the next few years, Samsung MX is developing its own alternative high-performance chips.
