Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus appears on Geekbench, Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2

Samsung is preparing to release the Galaxy S23 series in early 2023, and there is recent news that the series will be officially released in January next year at the earliest.

Today, the Samsung Galaxy S23+ has appeared on Geekbench, although it is the U.S. version of the model, it is still equipped with the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen2 processor and 8GB of RAM, let’s take a look at the new machine well!

This model is equipped with an octa-core SoC codenamed Kalama, configured with 1 + 4 + 3 or 1 + 2 + 2 + 3 cores, with the mega-core up to 3.36GHz and the three large cores running at 2.80GHz, with an integrated Adreno 740 GPU.

In addition to the chipset details, this model is also shown to come with 8GB of RAM and run Android 13, with Geekbench 5 tests yielding a single-core score of 1485 and a multi-core score of 4844.

According to Qualcomm’s official Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 score, the highest single-core score is 1333 and the multi-core score is 4211, which is equivalent to a 14% increase in the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 single-core and 9% increase in the multi-core.

As a comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra model that has appeared on Geekbench before is SM-S918U, single-core 1521 points, multi-core 4689 points; the Samsung Galaxy S23 model is SM-S911U, single-core 1524 points, multi-core 4597 points.

Qualcomm Snapdragon Summit will be held in Hawaii from November 15 to 17 this year. According to previous rules, Qualcomm’s next-generation flagship processor Snapdragon 8 Gen2 (SM8550) will be released at the summit.

Digital blogger @i Ice Universe previously revealed that compared to Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen1, Snapdragon 8 Gen2 has about 10% more improvements: 10% more CPU performance, 15% more CPU performance, 20% more GPU, 50% more NPU AI performance and a big improvement in ISP.

The @DigitalChat site previously reported that the Samsung Galaxy S23 series, Xiaomi 13 series, Redmi K60 series, and Vivo X90 series will all be equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen2 processors.

On July 9 this year, digital blogger @i Ice Universe also broke the news that several major manufacturers have started testing Snapdragon 8 Gen2 and are very satisfied with the test results. Compared to Snapdragon 8+ Gen1, the new flagship processor Snapdragon 8 Gen2 will have at least a 15% improvement in overall power efficiency. As Qualcomm’s next-generation flagship processor, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is also expected to be OEM’d by TSMC and will still use the 4nm process.
