The Galaxy M55 phone released by Samsung last month was the company’s first mid-range smartphone to support 45W fast charging technology. After receiving the review phone, technology media SamMobile discovered that Samsung also included a 45W USB-C fast charging cable in the phone box for the first time.
Samsung has previously canceled the standard charger for phones, but still provides a USB-C data cable with each phone. This data cable only supports Samsung 25W charger and cannot achieve 45W fast charging.
Samsung’s 45W charger is paired with a thicker USB-C data cable that can carry more power. This time, Samsung put this data cable into the Galaxy M55 box.
The Galaxy M55 itself does not come with a charger, users will also get this data cable when purchasing the official 45W travel charger. However, Samsung is quite sincere in this move. After all, it is always a good thing to come with an extra fast charging cable.
As for whether users need to purchase a 45W charger, it depends on personal usage habits. Charging from 0% to 100%, the speed of 45W fast charging is not significantly improved compared to 25W. But in the first half hour or so of charging, 45W fast charging does bring faster charging. Samsung has yet to announce the exact time it takes to charge the Galaxy M55 using a 45W charger, but preliminary tests by the media indicate that a full charge will take about 70 minutes, which is only 15 minutes faster than charging the Galaxy A55 using a 25W charger.
