According to foreign media reports, market research executives revealed that Samsung Display, which has increased the yield rate of large QD-OLED panels to 85% over the summer, is considering expanding the production capacity of QD-OLED panels so that it can get the panel orders needed for Apple Display.

Executives at the market research firm said that Samsung Display is considering investing in the production of QD-OLED panels in their new planned factory, which may be called A5.

The executive from the market research firm also said that Samsung Display’s A5 plant, which will use 8.6 generation substrates to produce panels, will primarily target 27-inch displays, with Apple being their planned main customer.

In terms of the panels needed for the displays, the market research firm’s executives revealed that Samsung initially considered developing red, green and blue tandem OLED panels, but then decided to produce more profitable QD-OLED panels for the display market.

In addition to the 8.6 generation substrate QD-OLED panels, foreign media said that Samsung Display and LG Display, also in the development of 8 generations substrate OLED panel production-related technology, with the current widespread use of 6 generation substrate compared to the 8 generation substrate produced by the panel size is larger, the main target is flat panels, notebooks and monitors and other products.
