According to the blogger @i 冰宇宙, Samsung Display has recently demonstrated the next-generation screen technology. The all-around full screen with zero borders is expected to become a future industry trend.
As can be seen from the trend chart, mobile phone screen technology has transitioned from the water drop screen and notch screen to the perforated screen stage. In the next stage, Samsung will launch the zero-frame full-screen technology and further improve the UPC technology (under-screen camera).
Korean media Thelec revealed that Samsung and LG are developing iPhone OLED displays without front borders, with the ultimate goal of setting the border width to zero.
According to reports, Apple wants to achieve an edge-to-edge display while maintaining the flat display of the iPhone and the angular design of the sides of the product, for which they have rejected the use of curved screen technology. Another reason is that the curved screen technology will cause some applications to have a “magnifying glass effect” optically, which Apple is very taboo about. In addition to the optical distortion effect, the curved screen may have weak drop resistance, which is what Apple does not want to see.
Although Samsung and Apple are competitors in the product field, they have a long-term cooperative relationship in the supply chain field. If Samsung’s display realizes “zero-frame full-screen technology”, the iPhone is expected to be the first to carry it.
