It has been 3 years since the release of Samsung’s first foldable phone, the first generation Galaxy Fold. Despite the problems it experienced when it first started, such as broken screens, Samsung has stumbled to become the leading company in foldable phones due to the lack of competitors. However, foreign technology media SlashGear, citing Korean media The Elec, reported that Samsung’s internal expectations for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 are not too high.
Samsung has very high expectations for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4, which will be released next month, with global shipments estimated to exceed 15 million units. However, citing Korean media The Elec, Samsung has internally lowered its expectations for foldable phones in 2023, namely the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5.
The report states that Samsung’s estimated shipments of foldable phones for 2023 are 10 million units. If true, that would mean 5 million units less than the 2022 estimate. The report says that of those 10 million units, 2 million will be the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and 8 million will be the Galaxy Z Flip 5.
The report also mentions some core specifications of the Galaxy Z Fold 5. The sources say that the Fold 5 will come with a 50MP main camera (Samsung’s own ISOCELL GN3 sensor) and a 12MP front-facing camera, but no other information about the camera is known.
