At the Samsung Galaxy S24 phone launch conference, Samsung stated that one of the most important upgrades of this series of models is the introduction of Super HDR function (Note: based on Google Ultra HDR).
Samsung said that after enabling Super HDR technology, the color of the picture can reach 64 times that before it is not enabled, making the videos captured smoother and more vivid.
Although users very much hope that Samsung can update this feature for other phones OTA, it seems that Samsung has no such plan at present.
Currently, most AI features of the Samsung Galaxy S24 series have been rolled out to the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Z Fold 5, and Galaxy Tab S9 series through the One UI 6.1 update, but Super HDR is still missing.
In response, Samsung forum moderators confirmed that the feature will be limited to the Galaxy S24. Obviously, Super HDR functionality requires support from the latest processors and screens.
According to Samsung’s official introduction, Super HDR technology uses algorithm optimization functions to optimize the color contrast of bright and dark points to provide more realistic effects; it analyzes the movement and noise patterns of the subject to make the video clearer.
Samsung also said that it will open Super HDR technology to mainstream applications, which means that the technology will not only be limited to Samsung’s own applications, but will also appear on applications such as Instagram.
