Samsung applies for a telephoto lens sensor shift stabilization patent

According to GalaxyClub, Samsung has applied for a patent with WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) covering a new telephoto camera with sensor shift technology.

The patent discloses a camera module, a camera assembly including a lens, an image stabilization assembly including a first substrate and a movable member including an image sensor electrically connected to the first substrate, wherein the image stabilization assembly is connected to the lens assembly so that the optical axis is at least partially aligned with the image sensor. The image stabilization assembly may be configured to move the movable member in at least one direction perpendicular to the optical axis such that the optical axis is aligned with a designated position of the image sensor.

Apple first introduced sensor-shift image stabilization technology on the wide-angle lens of the iPhone 12 Pro Max, which uses sensor shift to stabilize the camera, rather than the lens, to achieve better image stabilization while improving photos. quality.

In this year’s iPhone 14 Pro / Max, Apple has equipped the technology on the 48-megapixel main camera, and it is the second generation. However, this technology caused some iPhones to have camera shake problems, which Apple has fixed in iOS 16.0.2. Also, the telephoto lens of the iPhone 14 Pro/Max does not have this technology.

The fact that Samsung has applied for a new patent does not mean that the technology will be carried on the Galaxy S23 Ultra, but we can expect that if it can be used, the machine will be the world’s first model with a sensor-shift image stabilization telephoto lens.

It was previously reported that the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is expected to use a 200MP main camera, and the 3C certification of the machine shows that it supports up to 25W output.
