Samsung announced a cyber attack on U.S. users

If you’re a Samsung U.S. user, then you might want to check if you’re involved in an information breach.

Samsung has announced on its support page that its U.S.-based systems have suffered a cybersecurity attack. According to Samsung, an unauthorized third party managed to gain access to the personal information of some of the company’s customers in late July.

Although Samsung has repeatedly said that “no Social Security numbers, credit card numbers or debit card numbers were compromised,” some details of user information were involved, although the information affected may vary from individual to individual. Samsung said that third parties may have stolen data such as customers’ names, contact and demographic information, dates of birth and product registration information.

As for how the company is responding to the data breach, Samsung said they are communicating with customers who were confirmed to have been attacked. For now, the company claims that there is no need for immediate action, but warns users of the need to remain vigilant and raise alerts for calls or websites that request suspicious information about personal information.
