New reports have it that the initial negotiations between Samsung and LG over OLED panels have come to a halt. The reason for this halt in the process is due to a disagreement in the price of purchase per panel. This doesn’t mean that the negotiation process is a lost cause, as talks can resume in the future.

Initially, these negotiations came as a result of the shortage of OLED panels in the industry. Samsung on its own could not handle this shortage, prompting its move to its competition for panels. The switch to LG’s panels will mean that Samsung will possibly make an offering for a cheaper OLED TV to its customers.

With the halt of this negotiation process, all hope for a possible reduction in the price of Samsung OLED TVs is now wild talk. Samsung will have to either agree to the price as given by LG or stick to using its panels. Since LG is the only major supplier of these panels, Samsung finds itself in a tight situation.

Talks between the two companies concerning this OLED negotiations have been on for months now. For LG and Samsung to not find a common ground on pricing means that the market shouldn’t expect any new OLED TV from the latter. This lack of Samsung OLED TVs will last until both parties reach an agreement.
