Samsung in August last year released 990 PRO PCIe 4.0 flagship SSD, debut 1TB and 2TB versions. According to foreign media sammobile news, this SSD 4TB version will be launched soon.
Samsung 990 PRO SSD introduction is as follows:
Samsung utilizes new V-NAND technology and a newly introduced in-house controller to provide ultra-high speeds in the PCIe 4.0 interface. The SSD delivers sequential read and write speeds of up to 7,450 MB/s and 6,900 MB/s, respectively, and random read and write speeds of up to 1,400K and 1,550K IOPS, respectively. 990 PRO delivers a 55% increase in random read and write performance compared to 980 PRO.
According to the report, Samsung 990 PRO adopts Samsung’s self-developed “PASCAL” main control chip, 8nm low-power architecture, and Samsung’s seventh-generation V-NAND 3bit MLC flash memory. In addition, the SSD adopts TurboWrite2.0 technology, which significantly increases the SLC cache space, and the 2TB capacity version can reach up to 226GB. 990 PRO’s operating current is lowered to 2.2A, compared to the 980 PRO’s 2.9A. In terms of efficacy, the 990 PRO delivers up to 50% more performance per watt than the 980 PRO.
