Adobe Flash has been declared “dead”, but for various reasons such as nostalgia, there are still many users interested in this outdated, many vulnerabilities of Flash. Developers recently launched an open source project called Ruffle, using the Rust programming language to safely emulate support for Flash.

After Adobe officially discontinued support for Flash in 2020, open source projects like Gnash and Lightspark emerged.

Ruffle is a Flash Player emulator written in Rust that runs on all major operating systems and, through WebAssembly, in modern web browsers. Because of Rust’s memory safety guarantees, they consider it a safe implementation of Flash.

Ruffle released its first progress report last week, and can run dozens of ActionScript 2-based games, and has also started adding improvements to ActionScript 3 and optimizing the display for mobile devices.

Here’s we attached a partial list of games as follows:

  • Chibi Knight
  • Xeno Tactic 2
  • Trojan War
  • Frontline Defense
  • Bubble Bobble
  • The Revival
  • Cube Colossus
  • flashChronotron
  • The Powerpuff Girls
  • Attack of the Puppybots
