The foreign media Digital Foundry got the RTX 4090 graphics card and released a preview preview. Interestingly, they looked forward to the performance improvement brought by the RTX 4090 in the video. In the video, Cyberpunk 2077 was tested on an i9 12900K and RTX 4090 configuration. Although the specific frame number test method was not disclosed, DF revealed that using native 4K as the reference standard, the performance of DLSS 2 increased by 266%, and the frame number generation AI network of DLSS 3 helped its performance improve by nearly 441%.
The video then switches to a comparison of the previous-generation flagship graphics card, the RTX 3090Ti, which uses 4K DLSS 2 (performance mode) rendering. As a comparison, RTX 4090 and DLSS 3 have improved by up to 250%.
It’s worth mentioning that DLSS 3 is exclusive to Nvidia’s RTX 40-series graphics cards because these new graphics cards are equipped with something called an “optical flow accelerator,” which looks like it should be a key component of DLSS 3. This accelerator analyzes two consecutive frames and then creates an optical flow field that is used as one of the four inputs (along with the consecutive frames and motion vectors) to create the final output.
