According to the latest report released by the screen supply chain consulting company DSCC, as of August this year, the shipment volume of panels used in Apple’s iPhone 15 increased by 23% year-on-year compared with the same period last year for the iPhone 14.
On the one hand, this is certainly due to higher consumer demand, but on the other hand, it is due to the mitigation and resolution of iPhone 15 supply chain issues.
In June 2022, iPhone 14 Pro models accounted for 35% of total shipments, and in June 2023 iPhone 15 Pro models accounted for a similar proportion; in July 2022, Pro models accounted for about 45% of shipments, while in 2023 In July this year, this proportion approached 50%.
In August 2022, the iPhone 14 Pro model had a share of just over 50%, but in August 2023, the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max had a 59% share.
In the three-month period 6-8, iPhone 14 Pro models had 49% share in 2022, while iPhone 15 Pro models had 55% share in 2023.
Note: The DSCC report on Monday also commented on screen production share, with Samsung Display accounting for 91% of iPhone 15 series screen orders in three months. This compares to its 84% share of the 2022 iPhone 14 series.
In August 2023, Samsung Display supplied all four iPhone 15 models, accounting for a total share of 87%; while LG Display’s total share was 13%, of which iPhone 15 Pro screen orders accounted for 9%.
DSCC also notes that Chinese screen maker BOE will start supplying displays for the iPhone 15 later in 2023. BOE already supplies panels for the iPhone 12, iPhone 13 and iPhone 14.
