Second-hand recycling business SellCell recently released a report, saying August 19 to 26 each year is the best time to sell the old iPhone, after which its value will lose up to 65%.
This report reviews the prices of old used iPhones before and after the release of Apple’s new iPhones over the years, and the summary is as follows:
In 2021, 28 days before Apple released the iPhone 13 (Aug. 26-Sept. 23)
Used iPhone 11 series and iPhone 12 series lost up to $189 in price, a 60 percent devaluation from the official recommended retail price;
In 2022, before Apple releases the iPhone 14 (August 16-September 16)
Used iPhone 12 series and iPhone 13 series will lose up to $261 in price, a 65% devaluation from the official recommended retail price;
As a result, the organization believes that the smartest time to sell a used iPhone is between August 19 and August 26 for those planning to upgrade to the iPhone 15 series.
This will maximize the value of your old iPhone while not devaluing it too much as it gets closer to the release of a new product.
