Quanta Computer prepares for new Apple MacBook, expects WWDC release of 15-inch MacBook Air

According to Morgan Stanley research, Apple assembly plant Quanta Computer is preparing for Apple’s new MacBook.

Morgan Stanley analyst Eric Woodring said Quanta Computer expects a high-single-digit percentage increase in the number of notebooks it assembles in the second quarter of 2023 compared to the first quarter. He believes that part of the increase was driven by new MacBooks.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman also said last month that Apple would unveil the long-rumoured 15-inch MacBook Air at WWDC, along with, of course, the much-anticipated Mixed Reality headset.

According to Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the first-generation 15-inch MacBook Air will be powered by the M2 chip. Aside from the larger size, nothing appears to have changed on the laptop’s external design.

Apple launched the latest 13-inch MacBook Air at WWDC last year, which is equipped with an M2 chip, 1080p camera, MagSafe 3 charging port, two Thunderbolt 3 ports, a 3.5mm headphone jack, Magic keyboard with Touch ID and Force Touch touch The control panel starts at US$1,199.

It’s unclear whether Apple will unveil additional models at next month’s WWDC conference, following news that new 13-inch MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro models with the M3 chip aren’t expected until later this year or next year. , while the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros were updated just three months ago with the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips.
