Strategy Analytics data shows that Qualcomm generates more than 40% of its revenue from Apple and Samsung. In fiscal 2021, Qualcomm’s revenue from Apple is $7.7 billion (about RMB 55.132 billion), while in fiscal 2022, the figure reaches $9.2 billion (about RMB 65.872 billion).
In November, Qualcomm commented in its earnings release that the company originally planned to supply only about 20 percent of the 5G baseband chips for the new iPhone in 2023 but now expects to maintain current supply levels. This also means that Apple’s 2023 models are not expected to use its own baseband design.
In addition, Qualcomm CFO Akash Palkhiwala confirmed on the earnings call that Qualcomm has moved from a 75% (chipset) share of the Galaxy S22 series to a global share.
The earnings report showed that Qualcomm achieved revenue of $44.200 billion (about 316.472 billion RMB) in fiscal 2022, up 32 percent year-on-year, and net profit of $12.936 billion (about 92.622 billion RMB), up 43 percent year-on-year. Qualcomm expects revenue to reach $9.2-$10 billion in the first quarter of the fiscal year 2023.
