Qualcomm has unveiled the latest generation of its Snapdragon W5 and W5+ Gen 1 series of chips for wearable devices, plus Qualcomm has announced the date of its next Snapdragon Summit. This annual event is usually held in Hawaii and will be the same this year. Note that the 2022 Snapdragon Summit will be held over three days, from November 15 to 17. Instead of the usual December.

At the Snapdragon Summit, Qualcomm will unveil its latest flagship mobile chip platform, so this November will see the first official appearance of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 flagship chip.

While Qualcomm didn’t specifically mention why it moved the Snapdragon Summit up to November, it may have something to do with the Chinese smartphone market, which typically sees a big spike in sales during the Chinese New Year. As a result, many Chinese manufacturers are hoping to launch their flagship mobile devices before then and have plenty of time to get the chips delivered.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is the successor to Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and will be OEM’d by TSMC, but will likely still use the 4nm process. MediaTek will also release an iteration of the Tiangui 9000/8000, which will also use TSMC’s 4nm process.
