Qualcomm, the mobile chip manufacturer is all set to host an event in China on May 20th. Earlier today, the company officially announced the upcoming conference via a post on Weibo. The company hasn’t revealed any details about the event but they are expected to announce one or more new Snapdragon series processors.
According to the latest rumors, Qualcomm is expected to announce two brand-new mobile chips at the conference- The Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus details (rumored)
According to the reports from a couple of months ago, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus chipset has the SM8475 model number and it is expected to be launched in May. Reports also suggested that this chip will be manufactured using TSMC’s 4mm fabrication process.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus chipset will be an 8-core processor with a configuration of 1+3+4. It is equipped with the Cortex X2 prime core which has a clock speed of 2.99GHz. The processor will also have three Cortex A710 cores and four Cortex A510 cores. According to the previous reports, Qualcomm has also made a few enhancements in the GPU section. Although the upgrades are minimal, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus chipset is still expected to come with an upgraded GPU.
Xu Qi, the Realme Vice President has already announced the company’s plans to release smartphones equipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus chips in the coming months. It is likely that the Realme GT Master Explorer Edition 2 will be the first smartphone from the company to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 gen 1 Plus chip.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 details (rumored)
Qualcomm is also expected to release the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chip with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus. The 7 series chip from the company will be an octa-core processor. There will be four performance and four efficiency cores.
The Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC is expected to use the ARM Cortex A710 and Cortex A510 cores, they are clocked at 2.3GHz and 1.8GHz respectively. According to the leak, the 7 series processor is also equipped with Adreno 662 GPU.
