Qualcomm failed to deliver on its promise to beat Apple’s self-developed chip Apple Silicon in 2022, and this promise may have to be postponed until 2024.
Qualcomm CEO and President Cristiano Amon said in a recent interview with the Wall Street Journal that Qualcomm is exploring innovations that can benchmark Apple Silicon.
A part of Amon’s interview is as follows: “Currently, we have not announced a design solution, but there are some challenges with our SoCs and custom CPUs, just like Apple against the Microsoft ecosystem.
When pressed by Wall Street Journal reporter Stern about when the chip, which will be benchmarked against Apple’s Apple Silicon, will be available, Ammon’s initial answer was “September to October. In a follow-up question, Ammon said, “Some of the devices pre-installed with the chip will be unveiled in 2023, and you’ll see more new products at CES 2024.
