Q1 global semiconductor equipment manufacturers revenue ranking: AMAT first, lithography giant ASML fourth

August 13, CINNO Research’s latest report shows that in the first quarter of 2022, the top 10 global listed companies in the semiconductor equipment business revenue ranking revenue totaled $23.4 billion, an increase of 4.4% year-on-year and a decline of 9.4% from the previous year.

Among them, the U.S. company Applied Materials (AMAT) is far ahead in first place, the Japanese company Tokyo Electron (TEL) is in second place, the U.S. company Panlin (LAM) is in third place, and the absolute leader in lithography Dutch company Asmac (ASML) is in fourth place.

The report points out that, by region, among the top 10 companies, there are 5 Japanese companies, occupying half of the seats, 3 U.S. companies, and 2 Dutch companies, of which 3 U.S. companies are ranked in the top five.

In terms of revenue amount, the semiconductor business revenue scale exceeds $500 million in a single quarter, which can rank in the top ten, especially the top four semiconductor business revenue has exceeded $3.9 billion in a single quarter.

CINNO Research said that Applied Materials (AMAT) is the world’s largest semiconductor equipment provider, semiconductor business can be almost throughout the semiconductor process, semiconductor products include thin film deposition (CVD, PVD, etc.), ion implantation, etching, rapid heat treatment, chemical mechanical leveling (CMP), measurement and testing equipment. Q1 semiconductor business Revenues increased 13.0% year-over-year and decreased 1.0% sequentially.

ASML, the world’s No. 1 lithography equipment provider and the only global provider of EUV lithography equipment for 7nm advanced processes, reported Q1 semiconductor revenue declined 25.2% year-over-year and 34.6% sequentially. It indicated that the year-over-year decline was mainly due to rapid shipments but customers need to complete factory validation before revenue can be recognized.
