Previous news is not true, Apple has no plans to acquire Premier League club Manchester United

0

Apple has no plans to buy English Premier League club Manchester United at this stage, a source familiar with the matter has revealed. British tabloid The Daily Star recently reported that Apple plans to spend about $7 billion to buy Manchester United, but MacRumors, a foreign media outlet, contacted a number of people with knowledge of the matter directly and said the report was false and inaccurate.

Manchester United has been majority owned by the Glazer family since 2005. The club announced Tuesday that its board plans to “explore strategic options,” one of which is to sell the club. The news came on the same day that United announced that star player Cristiano Ronaldo would leave the club.

While there are no plans to buy Manchester United, Apple has been pushing sports content. The company has partnered with MLB to show two weekly “Friday Night Baseball” games on Apple TV + during the 2022 regular season, and it will be the exclusive provider of MLS games for the next 10 years. Apple is also reportedly considered the frontrunner for streaming rights to the NFL’s Sunday Ticket package beginning next season.
