Porsche’s global deliveries fell by 4% in the first quarter of 2024

Porsche officially released its global delivery report for the first quarter of 2024. The report shows that from January to March this year, Porsche delivered a total of 77,640 vehicles globally, a decrease of 4% compared with the same period last year. In addition to the European market, the company’s sales trends in the Chinese and North American markets are not optimistic.

In the Chinese market, Porsche delivered 16,340 vehicles in the first quarter, a sharp drop of 24% year-on-year. A similar trend was seen in the North American market, with 15,087 deliveries, a 23% decrease year-on-year. In contrast, Porsche’s performance in Europe (excluding Germany) was relatively positive, with deliveries reaching 20,044 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 9%. In its home market of Germany, Porsche’s deliveries achieved a significant increase of 37%, with a total of 11,274 vehicles delivered.

Looking at sales by model, the Cayenne became Porsche’s most popular model with sales of 28,025 units, a year-on-year increase of 20%. Macan sales fell to 20,576 units, a decrease of 14% year-on-year. Sales of the Porsche 911 were solid, with 12,892 units sold, up 17% year-on-year. Panamera deliveries were 6,139 units, down 28% year-on-year. Deliveries of the Porsche 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman were 5,772 units, an increase of 20% year-on-year.

In the field of electric vehicles, Taycan’s performance was not satisfactory, with only 4,236 units delivered in the first quarter, a year-on-year drop of 54%. It is worth noting that Porsche has launched the mid-term facelift of the Taycan family. The official guide price of the new car is between 1.008 million and 1.998 million RMB, and it has been upgraded in terms of assisted driving, chassis and power. The industry is generally concerned about whether this upgrade can help Taycan and Porsche’s electric vehicle sales rebound.
