Porsche plans to launch all-electric Panamera

With the continuous development of electric vehicles, many traditional car companies are open to turn to electrification. According to Porsche CEO Oliver Blume, Porsche delivered more than 300,000 vehicles worldwide in 2021, of which 41,296 were the all-electric Taycan, with sales of the all-electric Taycan even surpassing those of the fuel-powered Porsche 911.

According to electrek today, Porsche continued its electrification process with the delivery of 18,900 all-electric Taycans in the first half of this year. Porsche will be releasing more electric models as it moves forward with electrification. According to Autocar UK, Porsche plans to launch an all-electric Panamera and a second-generation all-electric version of the Taycan, and both will be based on the Volkswagen SSP Sports platform.

The Volkswagen SSP Sports platform, which was developed under the leadership of Porsche, has a lower cabin floor to help lower the vehicle’s center of gravity. The electric Paramela is still in the early stages of development, but the vehicle’s wheelbase is expected to be on par with the Chinese version of the Paramela, which means the electric Paramela will compete with the Mercedes-Benz AMG EQS, Lucid Air and others. For reference, the wheelbase of the domestic version of the Paramela is 3100mm and the length of the car is 5199mm.

Porsche CFO Lutz Meschke said in July this year that the profitability of Porsche electric cars will reach the level of fuel cars in the next two years. At the same time, Porsche plans to achieve 50% of the company’s sales for electric cars by 2025, and 80% of Porsche’s sales for electric cars by 2030.
