PICO 4 Carrying Case is defective and recalls announced, will be updated by 21 October

On September 27th, PICO officially launched a new generation of VR all-in-one units in the Chinese market, the PICO 4 series, starting at RMB 2,499. This is the first time since PICO’s acquisition by Byte Jump that the company has released a new generation of products.

Several users have reported that they have received a recall message from PICO’s official flagship shop, suggesting that they can send back a replacement carrying case, stating that the original case may put the console at risk of wear and tear or scratches.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.

The person in charge of PICO today responded that the PICO 4 Carrying Case was found to have the potential to cause cosmetic problems with the main unit. In order to better protect the rights of our customers, we have decided to urgently optimize the design of the case and step up the production of the new PICO 4 case to reduce the risk of this occurrence. It is expected that the new packs will be updated and the replacement process for the user-side packs will begin by October 21 this year.

The PICO 4 is equipped with a 4K+ ultra-visual display with a PPI (pixel density) of 1200 and a refresh rate of 90Hz and is available in two storage variants: 128GB and 256GB. Officially, it offers around three hours of use on a single charge and, as with previous Pico headsets, the battery is built into the back strap for balance.

The PICO 4 exterior is described as a clashing color scheme of black mirror and off-white body. In terms of hardware, the PICO 4 series features the innovative Pancake folding light path design and weighs only 295g without the strap and battery; it has a balanced front and rear design solution with skin-friendly face foam.

PICO 4’s new HyperSense grip is ergonomically designed with a starring and curved column. The palm area is laser engraved for a non-slip and non-removable grip. The grip also features a powerful wide-range linear motor with a frequency range of 50 to 500Hz.

The PICO 4 is equipped with the new PICO OS 5.0 operating system with a more relaxed and natural UI. With the new Avatar system, you can not only customize your own virtual image but also invite your friends to interact with you. In addition, the new MRC Mixed Reality Recording function allows you to create new and fun MR videos by merging live action and virtual images with just one phone.
