PC computer sales cool: can save the life to rely on Win11

After eating the dividends of the last wave of home office and remote online classes, PC computers are once again experiencing the darkest hour.

According to the latest data from statistical agency IDC, PC shipments are expected to decline by 12.8% year-on-year this year, or from 348.8 million units to 305.3 million units, down by as much as 43.5 million units a year.

For next year, IDC is also not optimistic, estimated to continue to decline 2.3% until 2024 to rebound.

Such pessimism does not seem to be a good thing, and the agency believes that the hope of revitalization depends on Windows 11.

Note that we are not talking about ordinary consumers here, but business users. The analysis suggests that with Windows 10 abandoned by Microsoft and set to end support in 2025, big enterprise customers are considering switching to the Windows 11 platform, a momentum that could hopefully stop losses to PC makers early if it’s big enough.

Steam’s latest hardware and software statistics show that gaming users are quite positive about Win 11, with the upgrade rate already over 24%.
