Following a commitment by OnePlus to extend the support period for some overseas phones, OPPO also announced that it will provide 4 major Android updates and 5 years of security patches for some overseas phones.
OPPO said in an official press release that it will provide four major ColorOS updates and regular security patches for five years for selected flagship models starting in 2023, but did not reveal what the “selected flagship models” specifically include.
Samsung has previously committed to the same service support, and OPPO and one plus are considered to catch up with the first echelon of the Android camp.
OPPO said that since its release on August 18, 2022, ColorOS 13 has been delivered to 33 smartphones worldwide, making it the fastest and largest update (update coverage) in ColorOS history. The number of ColorOS 13-compatible phone models has increased by more than 50 percent compared to the same data for ColorOS 12.
Liu Zuohu, the founder of OnePlus, announced on December 17 that OPPO OnePlus has officially opened a dual brand, and Liu said OPPO will invest $10 billion in OnePlus to help the future development of OnePlus.
