OpenAI plans to turn ChatGPT into super smart personal work assistant

According to The Information OpenAI, a hot startup in artificial intelligence, is planning to launch a “work assistant,” a move that appears to put the company in competition with its main investor, Microsoft, according to a report in The Washington Post.

Citing unnamed sources, The Information said OpenAI CEO Sam Altman told investors privately that he plans to make ChatGPT a “super-intelligent personal work assistant” that can draft emails for users based on their personal style and up-to-date business information. mail or document.

However, the assistant could create conflicts of interest with customers like Microsoft and Salesforce, which is also a major OpenAI partner, investor and cloud service provider, which also want to use OpenAI’s software to build artificial intelligence “copilots” (Copilots). to assist in the work. But building the new ChatGPT feature will be the focus of OpenAI’s commercialization efforts, according to Altman and two other people familiar with the matter.

In January of this year, Microsoft announced that it would invest in OpenAI at a price of US$10 billion and acquired a 49% stake in the company. Under the agreement, Microsoft will receive 75 percent of OpenAI LP’s profits until it recoups its investment, after which it will retain a 49 percent stake. After Microsoft recovers its investment, part of OpenAI LP’s profits will continue to belong to Microsoft until a cap is reached, and the remainder will be transferred to non-profit institutions.

The unconventional structure raised concerns among early backers of OpenAI, including Elon Musk, who expressed dissatisfaction with Microsoft’s level of ownership and potential impact on AI. However, Sam Altman said at the recent Bloomberg Technology Summit that both he and Microsoft are happy with the deal.
