According to Reuters, OpenAI will divide $1 million from its existing fund in equal shares of 10 to promote the democratic process of ChatGPT, develop effective measures to govern artificial intelligence, curb other negative factors such as bias, and guide its healthy development.
In a blog post today, OpenAI said that $100,000 (note: currently about RMB 708,000) of the divided amount will be donated to individuals and organizations that propose relevant frameworks in the hope that there will be solutions to govern AI and allow it to develop healthily.
Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, told Reuters, “AI systems should benefit all of humanity and be more inclusive. We are launching this grant program as a first step in that direction.”
OpenAI said the $100,000 investment could lead to a number of ideas for governing AI, even if the proposals are not “binding” in any way.
