Kinder Liu, President and Chief Operating Officer of OnePlus Mobile, talked about his views on tablets and laptops in an interview with Trusted Reviews. He said that OnePlus is currently not interested in making laptops. And it’s not too bad for a low-end tablet.
Kinder Liu was asked if there were any plans to launch a cheaper tablet, after all, OnePlus has already launched its first tablet, the OnePlus Pad, and it also has the Nord series of low-cost phones. However, Kinder Liu said that OnePlus does not want to make such a device. He said: “Our focus is still on the high-end price segment, but if feedback shows that someone needs a low-end and more affordable product, we will consider exploring it.” Kinder Liu He explained that OnePlus has only launched one tablet so far, so it needs to be cautious, but he did not rule out the possibility of the future.
Kinder Liu also said that OnePlus is currently not interested in making laptops. “Our vision for technology is to see smartphones and tablets as the primary devices for people to work and play, which means we’re not currently exploring PCs and laptops,” he said, adding: “Technology is constantly evolving. Yes, that’s never going to change. What’s meaningful and necessary to consumers today, might not be in the next 5, 10 or 20 years.”
In fact, technology does change, especially in the tech world. So, who knows what will happen next. But for now, OnePlus isn’t working on a laptop.
It is noticed that OnePlus has at least one exciting device to release this year, and that is its first folding screen phone-OnePlus Fold or OnePlus V Fold. The device is expected to be released in the third quarter of this year, although the exact date is unknown.
