OnePlus Nord will soon become a brand on its own

The OnePlus Nord will break away from OnePlus and become an independent brand to help drive sale of mid-range devices.

In 2020, the OnePlus Nord officially launched as a budget-friendly device from the BBK subsidiary. Originally, the brand OnePlus gave attention to the flagship market and the production of such devices. But the time came for them to attend to the needs of other markets, so the Nord series was born. Now, it might be time for this series to become a brand on its own.

Due to the desire for expansion into more markets, Nord will shift away from OnePlus. It is not certain whether Nord will stand alone, it still exists under OnePlus as a sub-brand. Either way, this split will bring Nord to more markets where mid-range devices are common.

Markets that Nord will target might include, Africa, Europe, South America, and South Asia. These markets have a great demand for mid-range devices, as well as they do for flagship devices. At the moment OnePlus’s dominance is obvious in Europe and India, regions like Africa are yet to behold this brand.

Over the years of its existence, OnePlus Nord encompasses a mid-range flagship experience and a budget experience. There is no flagship OnePlus Nord device, the flagships are the OnePlus series. Nord becoming a brand on its own will help it focus attention on where it’s needed the most. This will assist OnePlus in the perfection of its flagship game, bringing it closer to rival brands.

This break-off isn’t the first of its kind in the smartphone industry. Redmi and POCO are sub-brands of Xiaomi, Honor was a Huawei sub-brand, Realme came from OPPO and the list goes on. Such a break-off brings more devices to the new brand such as smartwatches, TVs, and others.
