OnePlus 10T will be announced on August 3

OnePlus is about to launch a new phone, the company revealed, and it will be announced at an event in New York on August 3. The phone dubbed the OnePlus 10T, comes with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chip. This phase of the OnePlus device launch does not have a “Pro” model but continues to use its “T” branding, which OnePlus has used intermittently since the OnePlus 3T was first unveiled in 2016.

OnePlus usually releases two flagships per year, one in the first half of the year and the other in the second half, though the company did not release the second half of the interval in 2021.

OnePlus says that the 10T will come with the tagline “Evolution beyond speed,” although exactly what that means remains a mystery, as the only known upgrade right now is the processor. The invitation suggests that the device will have a similar design to the 10 Pro, possibly with a “sandstone” finish similar to the one found on the back of the first OnePlus One.

The launch event will take place on August 3 at 10 a.m. ET at Gotham Hall in New York City and will be streamed live on the company’s social media channels. Fans in the area can also attend the event in person, and tickets can be purchased today from “Red Cable Club” members through the OnePlus’ website, while others can purchase tickets for $25 on July 21.

Anyone who purchases tickets will receive a pair of Nord Buds and “other OnePlus gifts,” OnePlus said. The first 50 tickets purchased will receive an additional ticket for free, and the company will have about 400 tickets available.

In addition to the 10T, OnePlus is also teasing some additional improvements in its upcoming OxygenOS 13 update, including a new always-on display widget that it developed with Spotify. This widget will allow users to see song titles, artists and albums on the lock screen and control audio playback even when the screen is turned off, a feature that OnePlus says “most devices” using OxygenOS 13 will get.

As for devices getting the new software later this year, OnePlus will make the update available to its flagship 8 series (or later) phones as well as the Nord 2, Nord 2T, Nord CE, Nord CE 2, Nord CE 2, and Nord CE 2 Lite. The new 10T, while launching next month, will ship with Oxygen 12.1 at launch.
