OmniVision Group announced today that it has launched a new image sensor product for notebook/tablet computers – OV02E.

According to reports, the OV02E is a 1080p full high-definition (FHD) image sensor with interlaced high dynamic range (HDR), suitable for devices with thin bezel designs, including mainstream and high-end notebooks, tablets and IoT devices.
The OV02E is 1/7.3 inches in size and supports the use of artificial intelligence (AI) chips. It claims to sense the presence of users in ultra-low power always-on mode, thereby extending the battery life of portable devices.
The OV02E sensor has 1.12-micron back-illuminated (BSI) pixels, is based on the OmniVision PureCel Plus architecture and is capable of 2-megapixel Full HD 1080p video at 60 frames per second. It supports multi-camera synchronization and can be used for machine vision and IoT applications that require depth detection. The always-on function of the OV02E features an ultra-low power state and works with Mobile Industry Processor Interface (MIPI) and Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI).
It is learned that the official of OmniVision Group that the OV02E has been sampled and will be put into mass production in the fourth quarter of 2023.
