Ola unveiled plans to enter four-wheeler EV segment; a teaser video released

Ola, the company we all know as the popular ride-sharing platform, has clear plans to take a ride in the EV manufacturing segment. After the launch of its S1 electric scooter, a teaser video is out of its upcoming premium electric cars. Yes, you heard it right, the 30 seconds footage shows glimpses of not just one but three electric cars. Thanks to the automotive enthusiast and tipster Snehal Praveen for the update on this number. The video clip was teased at a customer event at the company’s upcoming factory near Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu.

Ola cars: glimpses through the teaser video

As seen in the teaser video, one of the upcoming cars could possibly be a low-slung sporty sedan. The design looks pretty modern and the car bears a coupe roof line. Ola has taken some bold steps in casting out an aerodynamic look to the vehicle. This seems challenging to achieve in a conventional IC engine car with an extremely low-slung nose. Other highlights of its design include a wedge-shaped front fascia, a Kia-like rear fascia and an LED lighting signature spanning the entire width of the car. The other two upcoming models, as shown in the teaser could be an electric SUV/coupe and a hatchback.

A snapshot from the teaser video

It seems that the issues cropping up on the sub-optimal quality, reliability, and delivery of its S1 electric scooter is not deterring the company from going ahead with its plans to enter the four-wheeler EV segment. We hope that Ola would address these issues while manufacturing the four-wheelers.

91 mobiles got news from tipster Yogesh Brar that of the three EV models, two are slated for the Indian market, an SUV and a sedan. The cars would debut nowhere before the company has set up its battery plant, which would be by late 2023. The publication also revealed that the company is working on a low-cost scooter with cruise control feature.
