Nvidia’s H100 AI GPU shipments reached 900 tons in Q2, about 300,000 units

Nvidia’s H100 artificial intelligence graphics card has become the new favorite in the industry, with sales hitting a record high. Research firm Omdia revealed that Nvidia shipped 900 tons of H100 graphics cards in the second quarter of 2023, which is a very astonishing number.

This analysis report is a bit strange. Omdia did not explain why it uses “weight” to express the number of graphics cards shipped. Presuming Omdia obtained the shipping data from a supplier, Omdia estimates that an H100 graphics card weighs about 3 kilograms. Therefore, it can be calculated that Nvidia sold approximately 300,000 H100 graphics cards in the second quarter, which is a huge number.

Omdia said it expects Nvidia to sell roughly the same number of GPUs in the coming quarters, so the company expects to sell about 3,600 tons of H100 GPUs this year, or about 1.2 million H100 GPUs per year.

It is noticed that Nvidia plans to ship 1.5 million to 2 million artificial intelligence graphics cards by 2024, most of which are the popular H100 graphics cards, and Omdia’s report shows that the company is on track to achieve this goal Target.

It can be said that Nvidia has established a strong monopoly position, and its competitors simply cannot compare with it.
